Comments: | Recently separated from Smerinthus cerisyi. Records in southern BC and adjacent Alberta are S. ophthalmica. The two can be distinguished from each other by the PM line. According to MPG the PM of S. ophthalmica forms two broad arcs across each wing, where that of S. cerisyi is a series of smaller scallops. |
